Burglars catch striker off side

Burglars have cleaned out the home of FC Torrevieja's German striker Lotfi.

They struck in the early hours of last Wednesday morning while the 27-year-old and his Swedish girlfriend were sleeping in their Playa Flamenca apartment.

Elbousidi Lotfi suspects the thieves may have piped gas through their bedroom window as the couple did not hear them forcing an entry through the barred patio door.

The burglars stole a laptop computer valued at 2,500 euros, along with credit cards, cash, a video camera, jackets and shoes and the striker's sports kit.

They also found the keys of the footballer's black BMW, which has the German registration MZ EL138, and drove away in the 10,000-euro vehicle.
