New PP chief denied the Holocaust
It came to light when Iniciativa party delegate Mireia Mollà called for his dismissal after he had been appointed Partido Popular (PP) regional secretary general to replace Ricardo Costa, who resigned last week as a result of his connection with the Gurtel corruption case. "In some European countries they would have taken him straight to jail," asserted Sra Molla. The original article contained polemical attacks on Jews. In one section he states: "The Jew has dedicated his whole life to living at the cost of others with usury and finance always as a parasitic intermediary and never as a productive element of society." It refers to the Holocaust as ‘the myth of the six million Jews exterminated' and ‘the biggest fraud in history'. "A detailed study demonstrates to us all this is false," he claimed. The young Asencio insisted the aim of this was to discredit National Socialism and perpetuate German payment of compensation. The revelation drew fierce criticism from all opposition parties including President Zapatero during his visit to the Holocaust museum in Jerusalem, Israel, last Thursday. "It is absolutely unacceptable and morally despicable," he replied to Israeli journalist. Sr Asencio put the article down to ‘an error of adolescence' and claimed his career in politics demonstrates his commitment to democracy.
