THERE are currently 60 building projects still pending at schools and colleges throughout Castellón province.
The projects were promised and occasionally also launched by the former regional PP government, until the arrival of the crisis put them on hold.
Now, the current PSPV/Compromís coalition has a tough job on its hands after promising to eliminate the dreaded ‘barracones’, or portable classrooms that are supposed to be a temporary solution – but in many cases have ended up being close to permanent.
Education analysts in the province warn that the most urgent problem are the centres consisting entirely of ‘barracones’, namely five schools and one college located in Vinaròs, Almassora, Burriana, Nules and the Vall d’Uixó.
