With the Guadalhorce reservoir nearing pre-alert levels for drought conditions, the Junta de Andalucía has warned farmers in the Guadalhorce valley that if rainfall is not forthcoming, they could face a shortage of irrigation water this summer, in order to guarantee domestic water supply. Junta officials will meet with farmers again in a month to reassess the situation.
