MISERABLE MÁLAGA

Málaga town hall has sent a bill of more than €120,000 to the producers of the musical Les Miserables who cancelled 16 performances at Teatro Cervantes this month. Following a successful visit last year, the show was booked to return but, in May, Stage Entertainment cancelled dates without explanation. The town hall says the bill represents the lost box office takings.

 

TORROX FIRE

Four people were treated for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in Torrox early on Monday. Emergency services were called to a property in Calle Bellavista shortly before 1.00am and two men and two women were taken to Vélez-Málaga’s Hospital Comarcal. An electrical fault which ignited a sofa is believed to have been the cause.

 

MISS UNIVERSE

The Miss Universe Spain 2015 beauty pageant is to be held at the Nagüeles quarry in Marbella next Thursday, July 30, as part of the town’s Starlite Festival. Fifteen candidates, including three from Málaga province, will be vying for the crown, and the chance to represent Spain at the overall Miss Universe pageant to be held at a still unannounced location later this year.
