A 35-year immigrant, saved by the coastguard while attempting a crossing from Africa eight years ago, won €400,000 in last week’s Christmas lottery. The Senegal national bought a share of winning ticket 79140 bought in Roquetas de Mar where he and his wife settled. He told reporters: “I want to give thanks to Spaniards and the Spanish government for rescuing me.”
