A 39-year-old Moroccan man has been shot dead by an off-duty Guardia Civil officer in what appears to be a road-rage incident. The two men were driving their own vehicles on the south-bound carriageway of the A-3 motorway in Madrid at about 7.30am on Monday when one car is reported to have clipped the other, triggering a prolonged chase.

Indications suggest that the Moroccan’s grey Opel Zafira collided with the officer’s blue BMW 320, but did not stop. The chase continued for several kilometres until the Opel slammed into the centre reservation crash barrier and bounced off into the BMW which screeched to a halt, leaving visible tyre marks on the road surface.
