GREAT train robber Gordon Goody has died aged 85 following complications with emphysema.
The man believed to have masterminded the greatest train heist in history passed away quietly at his home in Vera, Almería, in the early hours of Friday morning (January 29) surrounded by family and friends.
He had been suffering from emphysema for a number of years and had also recently been in hospital after injuring his head in a fall, friends said.
Goody, who was thought to be the last surviving member of the gang that stole £2.6m from a Royal Mail train in August 1963, served 12 years in prison for his part in the crime.
