A 29-year-old woman was fighting for her life this week after her home was allegedly doused with petrol and set alight by her partner, reports say.

The attack happened in a shack located on waste ground in the Almería neighbourhood of La Goleta on Saturday night (April 3).

Police found the victim, identified in press reports as Ana Silva, staggering out of the burning property after agents went to investigate a report of a fire in the area. However, she was able to tell police that her partner had attacked her by setting fire to the dwelling, which was razed to the ground.

Due to the severity of her injuries – the victim suffered 70 per cent burns to her body – the woman was rushed to the special burns unit of the Virgen del Rocío hospital in Seville. Her condition was described as critical as the paper went to press.
