Almería is poised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of John Lennon’s stay in the province with a series of musical events.

The Beatle travelled to Almería to film Richard Lester’s dark comedy ‘How I Won the War’ in 1966.

To mark the anniversary, titled ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’, in reference to the song Lennon wrote while in Almería, the provincial council this week officially announced details of the three-day event, which will include a free concert in Carboneras by British Beatles’ tribute band Them Beatles on October 9.
