Nine foetuses aborted after gang arranged car crashes to claim hundreds of thousands of euros

Police have arrested a criminal gang who involved pregnant women in minor traffic accidents after they had consumed drugs to force an abortion.

The women would then claim hefty compensation from insurance companies, claiming the accident had caused the miscarriage.

The gang received €275,000 in compensation from 10 different traffic accidents they staged, which involved the abortion of nine foetuses.

The Guardia Civil started an investigation called Aborto 10 last September after a doctor in Almería’s Torrecardenas hospital reported a series of coincidences between similar traffic accidents in which the same women were involved.
